I ...Brian, The figure of 9 months sounds excessive. I have heard there's a chance of a 3 or 5-match ban for Sergio Ramos for mouthing off at the referee during his sending off. On the other hand, it may just be the mandatory 1-match ban, as the papers are not really making much of a meal of it (yet)

On the elbowing incident, it is a yellow card offence to jump with your elbows high, so, strictly speaking, there was nothing wrong with the sending off. However, as I said in the article, the referee played a large part in creating the heated atmosphere that prevailed throughout most of the game.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5320842051069026097.post-20587260067901903812008-03-04T02:56:00.000+00:002008-03-04T02:56:00.000+00:00Gonzalo, during the broadcast on GolTV, Phil Schan...Gonzalo, during the broadcast on GolTV, Phil Schane and Ray Hudson were saying how Sergio Ramos might be suspended for upwards of 9 months for grabbing the refferee. Have you heard anything about this? I also thought his second yellow was harsh, seeing as the recreativo defender came from behind into Ramos's elbow.
About the game on wednesday, I think that its going to be a real uphill battle that both Robben and Ramos will be out. Hopefully the returns of robinho and pepe will lift us past roma. (and lately I would have a hard time finding anything Robinho cant do lately.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
